What Is "Heartful Stitching"?

Yes, I totally made up the term. To me, "heartful stitching" is intuitive hand stitching that flows from that place that is most fully "me" - my heart. It incorporates visible mending, slow stitching, textile collage, hand quilt-making, embroidery and basically anything with needle, thread and fabric. I prefer to work with reclaimed and recycled fabrics, or other's scraps, thrifted fabric, old clothing, vintage hand-me-downs from my grandmother...generally not "new fabric", unless it was bought new by me many years ago before I made the shift to more sustainable practises and has been sitting in my stash. I am currently excitedly exploring botanical dyeing, and in particular, using kitchen scraps and foraged plants to give a new lease of life to old fabric. I mainly share over at my Instagram feed , but sometimes feel limited by the space there when I am feeling wordy.  I hope to share more thoughts over here. Thanks for joining me.
